The Villages collection by Mac Forbes represents a big step in a broader understanding of the amazingly diverse Yarra Valley and its sub regions. For years the Yarra has been represented by single vineyard wines and blend, but they aim to bring more light on how amazing each specific sub region can be.

Sitting behind the Warramate Hills on volcanic soils. There is greater compression and restraint of fruit. Whilst not the coolest of areas, it does get protection from the north giving amazing purity of fruit. Deep sedimentary rock offers wonderful length and such recognisable tension and depth of structure. Always a sleeper.

One thing that truly shines through in the density of the wine, both in its perfumed nose and its structured weight. A bright nose bursting with sour cherry and a sappy edge of amaro, the influence of whole bunch apparent. Elegant red fruits flow towards a structural back palate, with the vibrant acid line lifting the wine into another plane.
