Description

Tignanello, a renowned Italian red table wine, is crafted from an 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc blend. It made waves in Tuscany during the 1970s and 1980s as the first Sangiovese to undergo barrique aging, pioneering modern-style blending with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet, and breaking from the tradition of using white grapes in Chianti. Tignanello's Grappa is produced from its namesake's pomace.

Its appearance is clear and brilliant with a silvery hue. The aromas start with a waxy quality reminiscent of candle wax and crayons, followed by spicy and fruity notes, particularly raisin and plum. With aeration, it takes on bread and pastry-like characteristics. The palate offers a soft, light entry that builds into a medium to full-bodied, dry, and spicy profile, featuring dried fruits, especially plum. The finish is dry, light, and slightly oily, leaving an aftertaste of sultana followed by a subtle cocoa fade.
