Pinot Gris
Bass River
South Gippsland
White Varietal - Dry
Australia
Vegan Friendly

Description

As one of the oldest grape growers and winemakers from Southern Gippsland, Bass River continues to create wines that showcase the best of the region in a clean and pure form.

As quite a lifted Pinot Gris, from Bass River you get a refreshing wine that gives great acidity balanced with aromatics of pear and fresh flowers that end up being vibrant, yet textural enough to stand up to whatever you might pair it with.

'Great wine doesn't just happen – it takes a lot of love, care and dedication to nurture the vines, creating the foundations for premium wine.' - Frank Butera, Winemaker

The River Block, mostly planted in the winter of 2006 is a precisely planted vineyard consisting of 80 rows, in the Bass River flats. The rows run north to south with a slight eastern aspect. Located only metres from the Bass River, the site was selected due to its unique soil structure, which consists of a dark brown fertile layer over a dense brown/orange compact loam.

The estate leans towards a maritime cool climate and produces vegan wines, using organic principles, that represent a sense of place and regionality. The estate land is bordered by the Bass River and the southern end of the Strzelecki Ranges.
