Description

Catena wines, meticulously crafted by fourth-generation vintner Laura Catena and chief winemaker Alejandro Vigil, are a unique blend of High Mountain Estate Vineyards. While most Catena wines are enjoyed shortly after release, they exhibit beautiful aging potential spanning ten to twenty years. The Catena family's extensive study of Mendoza's high-altitude mountain terroirs has led to the identification of special sites for their Estate vineyards, producing wines with natural balance, concentration, and a distinct varietal identity.

Dating back to 1902, when Nicola Catena planted the first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza, the estate is now overseen by Nicholas Catena and his daughter Laura. Specializing in Malbec, the vineyards lie at the Andes' base on soils of sand, lime, and stone, situated at altitudes ranging from 920 to 1120 meters above sea level. With two decades of meticulous vineyard work, Catena Zapata has become one of Argentina's most renowned estates, consistently delivering lush and beautifully crafted wines. The Catena Malbec, praised for its excellence and floral character, embodies the distinctive qualities of the grape, featuring hints of violets and red berries that highlight the freshness of the vintage. This wine exhibits classic aromas and a gentle, velvety texture, enhanced by exceptionally fine and grainy tannins.
