Riesling - Dry

Organic Practices,

Description

Dönnhoff wines are some of the best coming out of the Nahe region of Germany. Helmut set up a reputation of fine, crisp Rieslings with generous texture and elegant structure, with his son, Cornelius, increasing his stake in the production process.

The grapes here are sourced from vines aged 15-30 years old from the steep, sloped vineyards of the middle Nahe. Soils are comprised of nutrient-poor porphyry and melaphyr, with slate and quartzite too, creating the perfect environment for setting up mineral driven Rieslings with dep aromatic complexity. The juice was fermented and matured in a mix of steel vats and large oak barrels.

An array of juicy stone fruits are displayed on the palate, with citrus-like acidity keeping everything fresh and defined, while the textbook minerality of the region keeps things interesting.

A great introduction to the world of Dönnhoff wines.
