Josephine Perry is the woman behind Dormilona wines, from Margaret River and Yokel (Swan Valley). Working alongside this inimitable woman is partner Jim Crespin. The pair’s intuitive, organic approach always bears great rewards throughout their wines, and the release of the Clayfaces, a range of wines fermented and aged using Italian amphoras, are an annual highlight for us.

Shiraz is a new addition to the Clayface clan, sourced from Jo and Jim’s own plot at Yungarra. Hand-harvested fruit lands at the winery and is gently crushed into a large amphora pot, where it ferments on skins for three weeks before being pressed off and sent back to the same vessel for three months’ maturation. The wine was bottled by hand directly from the pot.
