Good enough to turn you off making blonde jokes for life, Head Wines' The Blonde is a plush and silky medium Shiraz. In keeping with an old French legend, this bottle is named for the blonde-coloured sands that make up the vineyard.

Head Wines has reached an almost cult status in Australia, and the nuance in this bottle is a perfect example of why - note the added aromatic hit that stems from the addition of Viognier, in this case complementing the flavour rather than sweetening. While this bottle will improve well with age, it's hard to resist cracking it open tonight and seeing what all the fuss is about.

Head Wines is the brainchild of Alex Head, a winemaker fascinated with old world techniques and the differences that soil and climate can make to a wine. His primary inspiration is Shiraz from the Cote Rotie in France, an influence that can be founded woven throughout all his delectable wines.
