Piemontese owner of approximately 50 hectares since 1990, Paolo De Marchi and Oenologist Marco Chiellini have worked with several universities in order to prevent the plants from becoming more and more similar to one other. Paolo selected the best clones for its site. He also revived old and abandoned vineyards and he transformed the cultivation of the soil. Cepparello is so created instead of a Chianti Riserva, due to his passion for the Sangiovese varietal, sourcing the local top grapes.The wine is matured in new french barriques. The wine shows varietal purity. 2017 was a challenging season for almost everyone in Italy, Cepparello shows incredible results. On the nose, this medium bodied red shows cherries, wild rose, rosemary oil, plum, liquorice, spice, a hint of menthol and coffee with fantastic freshness. Tannins are elegant and well integrated.
