Nerello Mascalese. A new cru for Pietradolce. 2019 is it's maiden vintage. The vines are between 80-90 years old (pre-phylloxera), and cultivated organically, trained in the alberello method, on the slopes of the volcanic Mount Etna. The wine is matured for 14 months in 700 litre oak barrels.

“We were waiting for the right vintage to launch the new Feudo di Mezzo cru which joins our portfolio of niche productions. – explains Michele Faro – We have a heritage of ancient pre-phylloxera vineyards available for our Contrada wines, from micro territories that we vinify separately to enhance their differences.”

At the heart of Pietradolce's philosophy is their love and respect for their land. Combining rich ancestral traditions with modern techniques, they produce wines that embody that respect. Even the winery buildings themselves are a testament to this, built into the land in a "Hypogean" style, so that they flow into the terrain rather than just sit upon it.

Decanter, (95): "A brand new release from Pietradolce with this 2019 vintage, Feudo di Mezzo is from vines located at 650m near Passopisciaro. Rich and earthy with balsamic black cherry and red berry perfume, it's very juicy, moreish and intense in the mouth. Vertical and saline hedgerow fruits are accompanied by wood and spice hints, refined tannins and that lovely balsamic line running through."
