Friulano
Quealy
Mornington Peninsula
White Varietal - Dry
Australia

Description

A selection of the estate's ripest Friulano, then spontaneously fermented on skins in two 800-litre and one 300-litre terracotta amphorae. Left untouched until spring, then basket-pressed, before racked to used puncheons for a further 18 months of maturation. Unfined, unfiltered, with just a small amount of sulphur.

Citrus, quince, dried herbs and floral notes provide deep, complex aromas. The palette is precise and tight, with chewy phenolics giving serious, savoury structure. A wine that could help with a slight decanting, to help open up its intricacies.
